Volunteer Work Day – July 2018
July 14 @ 8:30 am - 4:30 pmFree
Volunteer Work Day
Ages 12 years and up only please (children must be accompanied by an adult/parent)
Service projects you’ll be helping on may include weeding, invasive species removal, painting, beautification of Center grounds, fixing fences, general organizing, etc. Upon arrival, you’ll be able to choose from the list of various ‘chores’ and we’ll assign work crews and shifts.
After your day of service is complete, we invite you to enjoy hiking on our 7 miles of trails, get out on beautiful Grindstone Lake in a canoe, go swimming or fishing, or just sit back and soak up the nature here at the Center.
The nitty gritty:
Arrive by 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14 – there will be a brief welcome and orientation, as well as task assignments, then work teams will head out for the morning’s tasks (9:00-noon), take break for lunch at noon, then regroup after lunch for another round of afternoon tasks (1-4:30). No dinner will be served, but you are free to stay longer that afternoon and enjoy the Center some more if desired – canoes will be available.
Bring old clothes (or coverups) that you don’t mind getting dirty (or even paint splattered), including long pants and sturdy shoes (required) and water bottles, as well as appropriate clothing for outside weather conditions (work will go on rain or shine). We can supply work gloves or feel free to bring your own.
Space is limited!
